New Year’s Goals and Ideas For SLPs!

Are you ready for a new year in your speech room? Do you have personal goals? Things you want to accomplish with your speech students? I’m not big on making personal resolutions, but I do like to take a look at things I need to revise or improve each new year. I thought I sit down before I head back from break and see what I can do to be better set for 2017.
For myself, I like to have a good planner. I’m no frills when it comes to a planner. I know a lot of people like fancy planners they can decorate. I’m an At-A-Glance planner girl. I need a daily set up to see the schedule I have for my therapy students, and also my crazy after school/weekend schedule with my kids activities. I also like having the ability to see the entire week with both pages opened up. This one isn’t too fat so I can slip it down in my purse.
I always want to have a few things cleaned out at home and in my speech room before starting back full time. Someone recommended the book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up It’s a simple way of decluttering and organizing.
I’m not one to “diet.” I DO like making smart, healthy choices. One thing I want to do this year is to drink more water. I got this for Christmas. Its a  Infusion Water bottle.

New Year's Inspiration in Speech Therapy

I LOVE fruit. So this is a great way to encourage myself to drink more. I just ordered this recipe book for fruit infused water recipe ideas. I can see myself getting tired of the same old flavor. I’ll keep you posted on how I like it!
So for my older speech students, I like to encourage them to set goals for the new year. I created this writing activity. It’s great for the first week back in speech.

Two of my favorite clip art designers have great coloring pages HERE and HERE. They would be perfect for younger kids.
If you like reading, you should check out the book, Grit, by Angela Duckworth. I mentioned it in my  Summer Reading Recommendations for the SLP post. It’s perfect for a New Year’s book also.
Ok, Speechies! Here’s to 2017! Thanks so much for joining me on this journey!
