Winter Themed Books For Speech Therapy with Free Language Bookmarks

Thursday, January 25, 2018
I have many favorite picture books that I use during winter. Brave Irene and Over and Under The Snow are two that I love because of their rich vocabulary, themes, and extensive figurative language they both offer. Here is how I use them in my speech room.
Brave Irene by William Steig. An absolute treasure. This award-winning book is a delightful tale of a young girl determined to deliver a handmade dress for her sick mother despite a snowstorm determined to stop her.
How I use it:
- Theme
- Figurative language
- Vocabulary

Over and Under The Snow by Kate Messner. I love this book because it features really interesting animals that we don't often discuss.
How I use it:
- Vocabulary
- Figurative Language
- Compare/Contrast animals
Download the free Winter Language Bookmarks below. Print them out to use as you read them! I'd love to know what winter themed books you use!
